Diamond™ Dowel AirEx™

Diamond™ Dowel AirEx™ is a Load Transfer plate dowel and sleeve system designed for construction joint applications in concrete slabs and pavements. Diamond™ Dowel AirEx™ is designed as a fast fix system that provides load transfer across the joint and minimises differential deflection between adjacent slab panels.

Diamond™ Dowel AirEx™ provides a low in-place cost solution by eliminating the need for the drilling or processing of formwork that is required with traditional round and square dowel systems. Diamond™ Dowel AirEx™ attaches directly to timber formboard or metal formwork plates and are supplied in pre-packaged Trade Packs with all components ready for installation.

Next Generation Diamond™ Dowel AirEx™ is available in 3 sizes: 6mm, 10mm and 20mm. Diamond™ Dowel with tapered AirEx™ Sleeves are designed to improve the displacement and flow of air from beneath the sleeve during the compaction of concrete – improving the structural integrity of the joint.

Diamond™ Dowel AirEx™ is available in two packaged options:

1. Trade Packs - Designed for the rigours of onsite construction, the Danley™ Diamond™ Dowel AirEx™ Trade Pack is a sturdy, durable and easy to carry carton that is work-site tough. Trade Pack configurations:

6mm Trade Pack: 25 sets of 6mm Diamond™ Dowel Plates and AirEx™ Sleeves (Orange)

10mm Trade Pack: 15 sets of 10mm Diamond™ Dowel Plates and AirEx™ Sleeves (Blue)

20mm Trade Pack: 7 sets of 20mm Diamond™ Dowel Plates and AirEx™ Sleeves (Green)

2. Bulk Packs - 6mm & 10mm Diamond™ Dowel AirEx™ is available in a Bulk Pack for large volume project orders. The AirEx™ sleeves are packaged in one large box with 500 units. The dowels are packed flat onto a skid, the sleeves are packed into a box and packed on top of the dowel and shrink-wrapped.

Diamond™ Dowel AirEx™ complies with the requirements of TR34 (4th Edition) – providing load capacity at joint width gaps up to 20mm.

• Standard Diamond™ Dowel plates are manufactured from steel to AS/NZS 3679.1 Grade 300.

• The Innovative Tapered Diamond™ Dowel AirEx™ Sleeve is designed to improve the structural integrity and performance of the joint by helping to expel trapped air from beneath the sleeve during concrete compaction.
• The AirEx™ sleeve provides 10mm of lateral movement on either side of the dowel at a 0mm joint gap, with the “diamond” shaped dowel providing up to 30mm of lateral movement at a 20mm joint gap width.
• Diamond™ Dowel AirEx™ Sleeves provide for up to 10mm of thermal expansion of concrete.
• 4mm inset of the dowel in the AirEx™ sleeve at 0mm gap width maximises dowel surface area and load carrying capacity as the joint opens.
• The radiused edges of the AirEx™ Sleeve improve concrete compaction around the sleeve and mitigate the potential for crack inducement.
• The innovative Diamond™ Dowel AirEx™ Insert which is pre-fitted into each sleeve prevents crushing during the initial shrinkage of concrete at the first pour. The Insert also acts as a locator for correct placement of the dowel plates and is pushed to the rear of the sleeve during insertion of the dowel.
• The recessed Integral Nailing Feature helps AirEx™ sleeves stay in place by locking into the concrete. The use of the supplied double headed nails in the robust nailing bosses ensures the sleeves stay in place in the concrete, when stripping the timber formwork.
• The Central Support Feature of the AirEx™ Sleeve is designed to brace the sleeve at installation, ensuring it remains perpendicular to the timber formwork under the weight of concrete delivery.
• Location Markers on either end of the Diamond™ Dowel AirEx™ sleeve ensure alignment to laser and chalk lines for accurate dowel placement.
• AirEx™ Sleeves are moulded from durable, non-compressible plastic.
